Dear Ambitious Woman of Faith, are you building your life on a solid foundation or on sinking sand? In the book of Matthew, chapter seven, verses twenty-four to twenty-seven, speak of the results of putting God’s words into practice in your life and the results if you don’t—a simple concept on how to survive life storms and circumstances that were sure to come.
Matt 7: 24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

I remember thinking, when I was young in the faith, that all believers' lives should be filled with joy and blessings now that we are serving God. But to my surprise, that wasn’t the experience that unfolded around me. The false notion that I would walk into material wealth and everything should fall into my lap after praying for it, hit really hard when I didn’t get what I wanted or what I prayed for.
It wasn’t until recent years, as my relationship with God deepened, that I stepped into an abundance experience that the richest person on earth could not give me. In fact, the richest person on this planet, without God, is the poorest person on this planet. I thank God that I did not walk away from His truth, and I thank Him for His grace and mercy for keeping me when I wanted to give up on life altogether.
Once you reach a new level of understanding in God, there’s no going back to the old thought patterns. With this new level of experiencing God’s abundance, new responsibilities were required of my faith. I seek more to be like that wise man who built his house and life on the rock of God’s word, that when the storms do come, that once the dust settles, I know God will be there standing with me.
